More Pop stuff! From 1986 and the Gotham City mixes of the massive, huge Communards hit “Don’t Leave Me This Way” As it says on the sleeve “the ultimate 22 minutes of extended play”, Mike Thorne mixed this monster track. (mmm, indeed) It is nice to hear a different version of what seems to be on every cheesy 80’s disco playlist and compilation. The B-side even mixes in previous single , “Disenchanted” seamlessly, with some stunning string arrangements by Richard Coles.
As most will know it was a cover version originally penned back in the 70’s by Kenneth Gamble, Leon Huff and Cary Gilbert and, amongst other versions, was a Motown hit for Thelma Houston in 1977.

We need to at least give credit to Sarah Jane Morris whose voice gave the record its distinct character, who was singing ? male or female ?
another good track as you say on most 80s comps keeps somerville cash rolling in
Mike Thorne really pulled a “Trevor Horn” here! Works really well!
