Bros – I Owe You Nothing (US Promo 12″)

Remixed and re-released in the UK on 6th June 1988 this got the Shep Pettibone treatment on this US Promo twelve. Edited by Tuta Aquino.

Aping a bit of Michael Jackson on those lead vocals the backing with plenty of cowbell and processing. There was certainly something there.

The Dub is suitably cheese-less with a dirtier bassline and some floaty synth lead, no vocals at all as the synths do the melody line. That bass is used as the basis for the re-remix as Goss does his mangled vocals.

Seems one person from France has been having multiple votes for the late 80’s Boy Band to get a revival going. From 408 votes they’ve sneaked ahead of DM with 24% of the vote – 62 from France. Don’t worry Mode will have their re-up day.

Coincidentally, Andreas has sent me a over some more Bros to bolster the collection. Mmmmm conspiracy !!!

Looking at the Stats no one has really got into this German band so Mike B has plugged away to bring you their debut release which goes into Goth / Xymox territory.

From June 1988 and joined in the studio by Janez Križaj (Videosex) it’s a dark, Cure-type ditty. Weird keyboard sounds with a solid backline.

“Seekers Of The Pure” slows the tempo and layers up those Goth guitars to jangle. Doom and gloom.

It contains a couple of hard to find Bronski tracks as a B-sides or at least I think they’re by the band. They are not bad either.

Bronski Beat Feat Lorie Madison – Smalltown Boy (The Ultimate Remixes) (MP3 Files)

A modern re-work from October 2007, so not that modern then! Sommerville’s vocals now sung by female singer Lorie Madison and it does work.

Some quite hard trance mixes and an exclusive B-side called “Heartbreaks” which keeps the Dance beats and sounds like a duet with Madison and a mystery male voice.
