The Judybats – Daylight (US CDS)

Apologies for Mr F for pulling this so quickly. It needed a proper curating rather than added as a footnote in the comments section.

From 1991 and supreme jangle from the Knoxville combo. Here is the line-up; Acoustic Guitar, Vocals – Johnny Sughrue, Bass Guitar – Tim Stutz, Drums – Terry Casper, Guitar – Ed Winters, Keyboards, Vocals – Peggy Hambright and Vocals – Jeffrey Heiskell

From the album “Native Son”, it’s catchy jangle produced by Richard Gottehrer. An American Smiths with those biting lyrics.

A rude title and live as well (recorded at Planet Earth, Knoxville, TN), Garage thrash with very rude lyrics like an X rated B-52’s.

And the track that everyone was clammering a cover of “Cars” with the guitars (mostly) replacing the synths in a semi-acoustic fashon. It is quite a decent ending to be honest.

  1. No problem, it needed a good, hard curating 😁

Unfortunately it’s the only Judybats single I have. It was in with my Connells stuff, who were a similar Southern band from the same time.

I can send over The Connells’ big (ish) hit though.

  2. I only had one album by them, liked most ever song…. Seems later I was disappointed with the second album for some reason. But just going on memory. Need to hunt down more songs, and see if my memory is as fond as I recall. Thanks FF.
