This blog has a lot of Robert Palmer, loads but there are still gaps. As fans will know so Sunday will be a Palmer Gap Solver Day!
From 1985 and now quite electronic “Discipline Of Love” was the lead single off his 8th album, “Riptide” and bombed! Getting to 95 in the UK Chart!
Produced by Bernard Edwards and mixed by Eric “ET” Thorngren. It has a dominate bassline (Guy Pratt) and some heavy guitar links. Wonder why it didn’t do anything ?
The B-sides were the Caribbean flavoured “Dance For Me” all electronic drums and groovy bass from Frank Blair. From the album “Pride” (’83) and with a Fred trademark sudden ending ?!
The other track “Woke Up Laughing” is even earlier , from the 1980 album “Clues”, with the Calypso keyboards. I’m going to have to ban these sudden endings!
