Wire ‎– Life In The Manscape (US Promo 12″)

Well this is going to be a bit of a ball ache.

As you may of found Zippyshare has been blocked by most of the UK main internet providers. So all my folders are in limbo unless I start farting around with a VPN and try to sneak around. So I’m experimenting with possible replacements (There are 3 to choose from here)

Back to the muzak and still stuck in 1990!!!

Wire released this to promote their new album “Manscape.” Sounding a bit New Order-ish with a blend of punk guitars and New Wave nuances, all with the bitter sweet vocals of Colin Newman. Joined by his bandmates Gilbert (guitar), Lewis, (bass) and Gotobed (drums) This was from a very interesting and underrated album.

Produced by Shriekback’s David M Alan it is unusual muddy production (or recording?) This promotional 12″ single gathers up the three tracks from the album that otherwise only appear on CD and cassette versions.

The 12″ starts off with a bit of a Tetris theme tribute a proper 12″ mix 🙂

“Stampede” is almost a rock out with sampled bass and wailing guitars, nice track.

“Children Of Groceries” has some experimental sounds accommodating the dubby but weird lyrics of Newman

“Free Speech And More TV distribute liberally”

  1. VPN Service unless you have a VPN server at home and know what you are doing can work and help. The better options is having a VPN service and pay monthly. Maybe like a Domain service or similar. This can be costly. Not sure if these are just US based but companies like – ExpressVPN, Tunnelbear & STRONGVPN are just a few. The other file share sites are probably experiencing temporary issues. Back to normal momentarily.
How was Berlin? Any vinyl finds??

  2. Visited the Hansa Studios and is definitely worth it. Let us know how the Bowie tour is as I heard mixed experiences for it.

As for the new hosts: Mediafire and Mega both work very well.

    1. Yeh Sam, Bowie Bus Tour was a bit pants really, certainly not worth the money. Felt we had hired a massive coach for a handful of people. Was more of a musical tour of Berlin. Not very Bowie related. e.g. “Bowie once got a bag of crisps from this shop” etc….

  3. Dang! Zippyshare works like a dream here in Canada. Lightning fast too. Hate to see it go.
Mega’s not supported in Safari either… oh well. Whatever works best for the whole. Thanks again for all the files you share.

  4. As I only read the writing and comment, I can’t offer an opinion on file hosting/downloading. That is absolutely not my interest. Sorry! But I enjoyed the “Manscape” album. I had the CD single of this one. It had the 7/12 mix of the A-side and two completely different B-sides: “Gravity Workshop” and “Who Has Nine.” “Stampede” and “Children Of Groceries” were bonus tracks on the US CD version, which I also have.

  5. While you’re swanning around in one of my favourite cities, Berlin, I have a little insight on file sharing sites.
Personally I use Mega, it has decent up-load and down-load speed, great for hosting large FLAC files, but I know it doesn’t suit everyone. Down side is you will eventually need an account to host all the files.
Mediafire doesn’t have any real issues, it’s great for downloading but I still don’t trust them.
FileFactory is dead slow if you don’t have a premium account.

  6. Thank you for sharing this. I’m just starting to listen to Wire so this is a nice addition to the Manscape album.
