Had this on tape back in the day (probably from the famous Sunday Radio shows, Steve Barker’s On The Wire or Gary Hickson’s Big Beat both on BBC Radio Lancashire.) and it was great to hear it again (Thanks Fred!)
The group comprised of Chris Mellor (Coco), Lene Stokes (Steel), and Craig Woodrow (Lovebomb). I thought the Lovebomb alias for this debut release was in fact Pete Waterman !
Cut and Paste with plenty of samples, think Coldcut via Tackhead. Sampling Donny Osmond. Here are some of the sources; the Rev Jack Impe, The Cult, Capitol Records LSD documentary LP, Shredder, James Brown, Schoolly D, Funkadelic and Negativland.
“Yuppie Love” has an extended Jazz trumpet sample
“Puppy Dub” has more dance / swing beats pushed up in the mix, more commercial.
“Dum Dum Break” use the “dum dum” sample as well as some James Brown shrieks.
Groundbreaking Stuff!
