Swing Out Sister ‎– Waiting Game (US 12″)

From 1989 and Jazzy synthpop from the (now two-piece – Corinne Drewery (vocals) and Andy Connell (Keyboards) Manchester band, Swing Out Sister. The horns resemble their big hit (arranged by Richard Niles) and the track was produced by the same Paul Staveley O’Duffy.

It does have quite an acidic bassline which stands out against the lush production. The Ultimix is the more club orientated mix, sounding a bit PSB, more so on the Dub. Keep your ears open for some proper guitar threading from Phil Palmer,

Bonus track is album track “Coney Island Man” all jazz vocals (that means no lyrics)

  1. Werent Swing Out Sister essentially “One hit wonders” who did not survive the 1980s?

Surprised to read on wikipedia that they are still touring after having a second career and string of hits in Japan in the 1990s.

      1. Tim is spot on, but he forgot my favorite, “ Somewhere Deep In The Night.” They only have one album that is somewhat weak to my ears, “Get In Touch With Yourself.” Ironically, the only tour where I got to see them.
