Early Scritti and without the massive synths / samplers (Pre David Gamson) but still with the reggae feel. I had this up here on 7″ so here is the 12″ released in 1982.
Joining Green Gartside (Vocals,Guitar) the band line-up was Joe Cang, (Bass) Niall Jinks, (Bass) Tom Morley, (drums) Robert Wyatt, (Keys) Michael McEvoy (Keys) Backing Vocals – Jackie Challenor, Mae McKenna and Lorenza Johnson.
“Asylums” is a gentle reggae number, quick and bouncy. “A Slow Soul” is a slow, bluesy track, subtle synths replace the sax which appeared on the album version, a nice rarity.
“Jacques Derrida” is a another quick track (Drum machine) with plenty of synth horns and dance-ability, it jams really good towards the end. Another rare track.
