Blancmange ‎– Blind Vision (US Promo 12″)

From late 1982 and the reinforced mixes by John Luongo; who initially broke Blancmange in the American clubs with his earlier mix of single “Feel Me.” This was now a fuller sounding band, with added female vocals (Brenda Jay Nelson, Dolette McDonald and Jocelyn Brown) guitars and a horn section. An epic 12″ of Pop Darkness with a bassline to die for from session player Neil Jason.

The rare track here is the “Dub Version” which brings out the great guitar work by David Rhodes and percussion by Bashiri Johnson . No lead vocals.

Island Records ‎– DMD 626

A Blind Vision (Long Version) 9:35
B1 Blind Vision (Dub Version) 6:44
B2 Blind Vision (Edit) 3:49

  1. The first song by them I ever heard. Couldn’t make my mind up whether I like it or not. Not the most favourite by them now, but still has that nostalgic something attached to it. Though much prefer an all-electronic version they did for The Tube in late 1982 – already had that insistence and menace, but without later embellishments. Pity they didn’t do a recorded version of it.
