Synth Pop with a dance edge from founder and vocalist of Freeez. From 1987 and produced by John Robbie and Arthur Baker (yes, it does sound like New Order in places!)
All the ingredients are here, the arpeggio synths, fierce drum machine (808 to the 909) and the samples. All re-vamped for this later release. Falsetto vocals (maybe too high at times!) with Street Beats, it included the previous Club Hits (especially in the Chicago House scene) “Move” and “I Want It To Be Real” going more into a House groove. Electro and Jazz Funk also appear and even get mixed together, “My World Is Empty Without You.” Farley Jackmaster Funk gets involved B2 and B4 adding his piano House grooves and removing the vocals on B2.
Highlight track is “The Dream” , electro beats with a song structure, a new direction and going into Pet Shop Boys territory via Jimmy Sommerville vocal (only higher)
