Kate Bush ‎– Running Up That Hill (US 12″)

Released in the UK on 5 August 1985 this was her first, proper 12″ single. A re-edited version from the LP “Hounds Of Love”, giving it a more rhythmic feel, working the drums of Stuart Elliott (Steve Harley & Cockney Rebel) and the bass of Del Palmer with the funky guitar of Alan Murphy. Sprinkled of course with the Fairlight atmospherics of Bush. In the instrumental you get to hear clearly the Balalaika work Kate’s brother Paddy, it is more of a dub version keeping lots of vocals in.

“Under the Ivy” is just Kate at the piano, powerful stuff. A voice that leads you somewhere.
