This week sees a return of more New Wave based stuff, with an emphasis on the guitar. I try and do 3 posts a day so that would be nearly 20 obscure and indie-fied tracks to enjoy with synths taking a backseat. Don’t be expecting long , extended remixes. The tunes the thing.
So JM posted over some Silencers stuff, the Pittsburgh band not the Scottish one. This was their debut album from 1980, produced with Bob Clearmountain. Slightly rocker with some nice lead keyboards high in the mix.
The line-up was Bass – Mike Pella, Drums – Ronnie “Byrd” Foster, Guitar – Warren King, Keyboards – Dennis Takos and lead vocals – Frankie Czuri.
Perfect Powerpop with a New Wave slant. There is even a good cover of “Peter Gunn” on here. There are some 60’s elements in here, “Shiver And Shake” and more rockier stuff “Cold Sweat” and drifting away on an Blues trip on the final track. The first side is definitely more New Wave.
The files are in the OGG format.
