Silly Sunday Song 11 – Vic Reeves And The Roman Numerals ‎– Born Free (12″)

At last something sincerely silly. From 1991 and when Vic Reeves was dabbling in the Pop Industry. (He had previously released “Dizzy” with the Wonderstuff) I’m sure there is some ZTT connection here in terms of production, done by the mysterious Schwantz & Senna, the sleeve notes were by Paul Morley in his usual amusing style. It turns out Andy Connell, superb keyboard player and arranger, from Swing Out Sister did the sumptuous production. A long extended mix and not a bad track. Reeves and Steve McGuire (From Doctor And The Medics) wrote the “Oh! Mr…Songwriter” track, which usually finished each TV show. It’s here with 2 very different versions, the retro 60’s, normal version and a dance version with Reeve’s vocals put through a vocoder !!!!
