Marilyn – Cry And Be Free (12″)

So the Daily Stats are rubbish….nothing obvious and commercial to hear you see!!

Well bugger that I’m off on one of my tangents calling at the enigmatic Marilyn! Close friend of Boy George, alleged lover of Bush lead singer Gavin Rossendale and an all round unique human being. This song was allegedly about Thompson Twins lead singer, Tom Bailey !!!

Released in 1984 and produced by Clive Langer and Alan Winstanley; it’s an epic, soulful ballad, proving there was a voice in there. A lot of credit must go to Claudia Fontaine (Afrodiziak) who provided the backing vocals. As good as Culture Club and a bit of a forgotten. In two styles according to the mix styles. For the “Streisand”  version I have recorded a raw and a treated one. This was given a more uptempo, Blues mix by Roger Jackson and Paul Caplin.
