Peter Wolf ‎– Lights Out (US 12″)

Someone I’ve not come across before, Peter Wolf, this was off the album of the same name and released in 1984. So he was lead vocalist for the J. Geils Band from 1967 to 1983 and this was his first solo outing. It was produced by Michael Jonzun and remixed on these tracks by John “Tokes” Potoker and François Kevorkian (can’t believe how much stuff he did in the 80’s) who layer up all that percussion.

A hybrid of funk and rock with a pop veneer but the dub is worth a listen in itself, making good use of Adrian Belew’s guitar work and toughening everything up. (Anyone spot Mick Jagger on backing vocals?)

Not on itunes or Spotify apparently…
