SPK ‎– Off The Deep End (Canadian 12″)

Industrialists become funksters!?!

Aussies Graeme Revell and Sinan Leong come up with a lively slice of electro-funk and continue the revised direction of SPK which started with 84’s “Machine Age Voodoo” album. Commercial sounds via the Fairlight (although that guitar shredding at the end does sound real!!)

This was released on Nettwerk in 1987 and like most of their stuff written and self-produced.

The B-side, “Kambuja”, is very interesting with spoken vocals by Revell about the doomed Cambodian war of 1975 that instigated Watergate with Nixon doing a bit of Blair, all over an electronic backing – see they were still avant-garde underneath!!
