The Penultimate post before we trudge back to the 80’s. You’ve stuck well and the Stats prove that we have tickled your nostalgia buds and prodded the odd curiosity button.
So Red Hot Chilli’s make a debut on this blog with this re-release from 1992. Loose funky beats and samples throughout. So not much of the songs remain unfortunately, no vocals obviously on the “Instr-Mental” and Jim Thirwell mutates the other mix of “If You Want….” On “Higher Ground Getaway Sticks” Thirwell does keep most of the vocals in but overdubs with some added noise and then the Big Band steps in (?), for all the Foetus fans. Black Sheep add the Hip-Hop vibe but it does seem a bit mis-matched on Lawnge’s Mix. The pick of the mixes is Ben Grosse’s “Pearly Mix” – Remix of the Month!
Didn’t know that both songs where covers, “Higher Ground” by Stevie Wonder and “If You Want Me To Stay” by Sly Stone, what an ignoramus!
