The Beat – The Door Of Your Heart (12″)

Featuring Dave Blockhead, Andy Cox, Wesley Magoogan, Everett Morton, Ranking Roger, Saxa, David Steele, Dave Wakeling. (A bit of a supergroup, they all went on to do stuff in the 80’s)

From 1981 and dub mixes that are not too dubby. Sometimes long and hypnotic these are just right for what is a neglected top tune from The Beat. Producer Bob Sargeant keeps it the right side of being too heavy, but is definitely more roots with backing vocals from Cedric Myton of reggae group The Congos.  Love that cover!

B-side “Drowning” is more laid back and trippy (whale noises!!!)

  1. Nice! Don’t suppose you or Mike have the Jellybean remix of I Confess? Thank you!
