Plastics ‎– Diamond Head (Flexi Disc 7″)

Back to obscure early 80’s New Wave with this Japanese quintet. Formed in 1976 and comprised of guitarist/vocalist Toshio Nakanishi, vocalist Chica Sato, guitarist Hajime Tachibana, keyboard player Masahide Sakuma, and programmer Takemi Shima. Back in the day this a freebie from Our Price Records (remember them!) but quite an interesting listen, this was the sound of Tokyo New Wave with a multitude of influences and a background in fashion. Produced by Alex Sadkin the main track reminds me of the Frank Chickens with Talking Heads and B-52’s influences (with a smidgen of Thomas Dolby)
