Heroes – Drift Away (US 12″)

Mystery band of the month

Heroes had one single and one album release (the amusingly titled “Here We Are”) before being dropped by RCA. They had hired top producer Richard James Burgess to produce and Brian Malouf on remix duty and it was only released in America.

The band included Chuck Sabo (an established session drummer), Colin Baldry (bassist and who did some Ambient albums in the 90’s), Darren Costin (vocals and who was in Wang Chung),the late Mike Casswell (session guitarist and member of Walk On Fire)and the mysterious Marshall (Keyboards and looking like he was in Fashion)

So the track, well across between Go West and ABC, probably what the market RCA was aiming at. Polished production with some classic 80’s “metal” guitar to blend with the beats. B-side, “Dream For Lovers” is more of the same, 80’s synthrockfunktrash.
