Wide Boy Awake – Billy Hyena (12″)

You can’t have 80’s stuff without the odd obscure band. Enter Wide Boy Awake (the duo of Kevin Mooney (ex Adam and The Ants bass player) and John Keough) signed to RCA and dropped after the one self-titled album.

From 1983,light synth funk produced by François Kevorkian.Weighing in with a couple of long semi-instumental, club styled “Instrumental” mixes (I can hear them being played on a trendy 80’s Nite nowadays)  The B-side has some Adam and The Ants stylings as it would.

Nice find Mike B!

  1. Never understood why Billy Hyena was the track so many people go to for Wide Boy Awake. Their masterpiece is Slang Teacher. That song was a massive US club hit in the early 80s.
