Ruby – Tiny Meat (US Promo 12″)

More from a 90’s band with a Scottish background. I really liked Ruby and their first album “Salt Peter” it was edgy , electronica/indie crossover. The duo of Lesley Rankine (who was previously in the band Silverfish and now is a solo artist under the name of Rankine) and Mark Walk (who had worked with Skinny Puppy and Pigface) wrote and produced their distinct form of Trip Hop with twisted lyrical themes, Garbage’s slightly more alternative sister.

Surprised this got a release in the States, a typical chunky guitar track with loads of layered beats. Danny Saber adds even more in his mix, but the beats and loops seem a bit overused and heard before -suppose it was 1995! Monkey Mafia put there own spin with some heavy bass (probably a bit too much, Mike?) and dub effects, very dirty!!!

  1. Loved Ruby. Much under-rated
