Bruce Hornsby And The Range ‎– Across The River (12″)

So it’s not all about glossy production, dance beats and synths but a wide appreciation of music across all genres and tastes.

Kicking off a short series of more traditional stuff is this fine bit of melodic rock from Bruce and the boys from 1990. From the album “Night On The Town” it quite uplifting with the lead guitar break by Jerry Garcia (one of his last recordings). It was Co-produced  by Don Gehman, widely known as John Mellencamp’s producer. Album track, “Fire On The Cross” with that piano lead and some pretty nifty Mandolin. A bonus track is a flawless live version of previous hit, “Mandolin Rain” recorded from The King Biscuit Flower Hour” Live from The Ritz, NYC from February 1987.
