Another old set of 80’s tunes get a revamp to promote a compilation album, this being released in 1998. Bring in the flavours of the month producers; Sash!, Moby and Apollo 440 and see if they cannot totally ruin it. “Enola Gay” has a cheesy, Euro house sheen added to it over some rerecorded vocals by Andy McCluskey, not a Paul Humphries in sight (no one they fell out for so long!)
“Souvenir” is butchered by Moby, the Hard House Mix see’s him return to his old ravey roots. Repetitive samples hinder the “7AM Version” (sampling a snippet of the Paul Humphrie’s vocal till in turns into water torture!) Same again on the over long “Me & Us mix” ; can’t believe he got paid for them.
The Micronauts absolutely kill “Electricity” via Laptop noodle, screeches and hard techno beats.(no vocals) TECHNO, TECHNO, Tech……..NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!
Not sure about the “Apollo XI” a big beat workout and probably a unique track for Apollo 440 fans…..not really OMD fans.
