The Mock Turtles ‎– Magic Boomerang / Take Your Time (12″)

All though going since the mid 80’s The Mock Turtles hit the big time in the early 90’s with “Can U Dig It?” this was an earlier release from 1990 and involves the production and guitar work of a certain Bill Nelson.

Formed in Manchester, the band consisted of Martin Coogan (vocals, guitar and brother of Steve Coogan), Martin Glyn Murray (guitar), Andrew Stewardson (bass, viola, guitar), Joanne Gent (keyboards, cello) & Steve Cowen (drums)

“Magic Boomerang” is a bit of a forgotten Mad-Chester tune, with shades of the Stone Roses. Nicely extended with added bit of indie dance psychedelia.

The slower, mellower “Take Your Time” is definitely  in Stone Roses territory and 60’s retro.
