When David Byrne had a little bit of a James Brown obsession.
Helped by some fierce remixes by Arthur Baker this was a cutting edge beats for 1988. It appeared on their last album, “Naked.”
“The entire vocal was written improvisationally with those in the control room making suggestions as to which parts worked and David memorizing them on the spot. The only lyric that came from that improvisation was the chorus, in which he sang ‘Blahnd, blahnd, blahnd’
I like the CD and Cassette only album track “Bill” quirky and with Kirsty MacColl on backing vocals, steel guitar by the legendary Eric Weissberg and cello by Arthur Russell. Beautifully quirky.
