Sister Sledge – Frankie (12″)

Still on the light, commercial side of the 80’s with this from 1985. Written by American songwriter, Joe Denny and produced by Nile Rogers this feels like an electro-funk homage to Motown. Reluctantly released by the group, after much pestering by Rogers, it became a massive, international hit, an 80’s classic and a memory jogger. Here we have the extended “Club Mix” and a “Dub Mix” (which is really an instrumental) For disco purists there is a remix of “He’s The Greatest Dancer” by Josh Abbey, yet to receive a digital release. I’m liking the synthpop of album track, “Hold Out Poppy” that bass synth and backing could be Howard Jones in his pomp.
