The Parachute Club – Love Is Fire (US Promo 12″)

Canadian New Wave rockers borrow every conceivable sound from the early 80’s New Wave bands on this. Consisting of Lorraine Segato on vocals and guitar, Lauri Conger on keyboards and vocals, Billy Bryans on drums, Margo Davidson on saxophone and vocals, Julie Masi on percussion and vocals, Steve Webster (replaced by Keir Brownstone) on bass and Dave Gray on guitar.

Off their third album, “Small Victories” this cheesy pop/funk from 1987, is teeth gratingly so! (Thank God there are some nice dub mixes, especially the sparse “Dub #2”) Featuring Segato singing a duet with John Oates of Hall & Oates, who also produced it with Bruce Forest at the mixing desk.
