The Doll – Desire Me (Canadian 12″)

A Canadian import 12″ from a UK Post Punk band called The Doll (thanks to Dave for knowing it immediately, I’d never heard them before and being a bit of a music guru had obviously had and owns a copy)

Led by the foxy looking (it was the 70’s) Marion Valentino, this quintet was founded in London and released a handful of singles and one album on Beggars Banquet, marketed as the UK’s answer to Blondie. This was the mildly successful first single which got a Canadian release in 1979. Blending synths and organ with post punk guitars it was produced by Mick Glossop, the 12″ is the 7″ version with an extra 3 minutes of added instrumentation seemingly tacked on the end. (nice guitar, though and a true extended version!) B-side is more of the same, new wave pop.
