Breathe – Any Trick (12″)

The emergence of The Boy Band really sped up towards the end of the 80’s and then has carried on up to the present day. Breathe were a marketing man’s wet dream, but never really had the success even though they released plenty of stuff.

This track was produced by Duncan Bridgeman and Karl Adams (Haircut 100, I-Level) with Chris Porter on engineering duties. It nods a little bit towards George Michael’s solo stuff via Go West and Climie Fisher thanks to the vocals of David Glasper, leaning towards a synthpop style. The B-side is a New Jack Swing style instrumental, which were all the rage at the time.

Breathe’s debut album is what should have been Spandau Ballet’s followup to True.
