Nitzer Ebb – Ascend (Promo 12″)

A 1992 release from Nitzer Ebb seeing them getting their groove on with some top remixes. Off their 4th album, “Ebbhead” this single was released the following year showcasing a fuller, rockier sound. Flood’s 7″ mix sees him bring back the darker, heavier sound as they attempted to break the American market via the NIN backdoor. Mark Stagg provides a short, synthy instrumental version. Exclusive to this was release was a Vince Clarke remix (as the “Anonymous Remix”) , pure atmospheric synth work against McCarthy distinct vocals, I’m getting a bit of a country and western vibe to it, unusual.

“Trigger Happy” is given the once over by Philipp Erb (Psychic TV, Oui 3) cleaning up the sound but still kicking that bass drum.
