The Fatima Mansions – Only Losers Take The Bus (12″)

Last night of the 80’s for a month or so! Sorry guys Mike and I have got quite a lot of 90’s Gems to buff up and won’t be disappointed.

So I’m posting this gem from 1989 by Cathal Coughlan after the demise of Microdisney. It mocks the absurdity of Thatcher’s comment that men over 30 on public transport are losers. Done to a thunderous, rockabilly groove it comes with a couple of “dance” mixes that get hook into the Balearic vibe that was around in the late 80’s. Both end in some blaring, feed-backed guitar, “Hail And Flames” keeps the vocals. The extra track is much more rockier, a full on guitar stomp with that rich, Scott Walker voice.
