Kissing The Pink – One Step (US Promo & US 12″)

A couple from Kissing The Pink (or KTP as they are marketed here) from 1985, so expect a more commercial, polished sound with full diva, backing vocals. The US Mixes are, again, a lot different from the UK versions. The normal 12″ has the Phil Harding mixes over the Pete Walsh production with shades of Erasure and ABC about the synth backing. The original is the one I own on 12″. The “Media Mix” is a long but definitive mix by Steve Thompson although he doesn’t half mess around the vocals via the sampler in that gimmicky way. The “Shakedown Mix” is a gigantic 12 minute long remix by Matthew Kasha a well respected New York mixer, he gives a dream like quality.

Still a great song (in the shorter versions) even after all these years.

For the fans there is a bonus track, “Footsteps” which harks back to their quirky days. More Indie dance with some quivering vocals with a nod to Talking Heads.
