Europeans – Recognition (US 12″ Promo)

From 1983 (again) and more synthy New Wave from British group, Europeans. New to me and of interested had a pre-Marillion front man, Steve Hogarth in the band. The line-up was Geoff Dugmore , (who went onto to become a prolific session drummer throughout the 80’s and 90’s.) Ferg Harper (again who did some work with Marillion) and Colin Woore (who worked with Hogarth in the late 80’s in a band “How We Live”)

So proving it was officially cool to be an European in the 80’s (Brexit ???) This was produced by “mystery producer of the week” Vic Coppersmith-Heaven with the “American Mix” getting a ‘Jellybean’ Benitez mix and the “English Mix” mix by Prog Rocker and composer, David Lord. (Peter Gabriel, XTC, Tears For Fears)

So we get a mix of synths and guitars and a Linn Drum working overtime. Shades of Kajagoogoo with a Rick Astley vocal. I like the “American” mix better, nice synth bass.
