The Quick – Down The Wire (US 12″)

More obscure bands (to me) from Mike. Synth meets rock! The Quick released this in 1986 sounding like Bryan Adams if he used a Fairlight! From England, but sounding American, they consisted of vocalist Colin “Col” Campsie and bassist/keyboardist George McFarlane, think of a heavier Go West. Produced by Phil Thornally (Cure bassist) this was off their last studio album “Wah, Wah”

The 12″ mix takes the rock replacing it with more percussion and treated vocals. Thornally takes everywhere in the mix and it does go on a bit.

B-side , “The Specialist”, is more pop soul with a typical late 80’s smooth sound, the Specialist of lurve.
