Style – Telephone / Chain Reaction (US 12″)

Another unheard-of from across the Atlantic. They had 5 albums out between 1983 and 1988 and come from the  Animotion school of American synth bands (yes, there’s always room for a guitar!)

Originally called Freestyle the group continued as a trio as Style, Christer Sandelin, Gigi Hamilton and Tommy Ekman. The lead singer, Christer, was originally from Sweden whilst Swedish Chris helped in the studio keeps the continental theme going. All written and self produced, “Chain Reaction” goes for the Breakdance vibe whilst “Telephone” uses loads samples over an electro beat, an Alphaville style track (Big In Japan), not bad for 1984 in terms of sounds and production!

  1. ahem, well actually they are all from, and were all based in, Sweden… so rather from across the North Sea than the Atlantic. Sorry to ruin your image of the band, they were mostly singing in Swedish actually, but I guess this was a try at an international market. To my knowledge it failed miserably…
    Best from another Swede, Martin

    1. Thanks for that !! It hard work researching stuff about bands I’ve never come across. BTW Principe Valiente are a Swedish band you may enjoy.
