Madness – Yesterday’s Men (12″)

A gentle start to todays postings, a bit fragile from a reunion with some old College chums which turned into a bit of a session as we’d not seen one particular gentlemen for over 25 years! Much gin and ale was supped in the salubrious confines of a Wetherspoons in Darlington. This track was mentioned and fittingly it was already out primed for ripping in this current series of commercial classics. The stripped down, raw demo version was also included on the 12″ devoid of the lush strings of the Langer/Winstanley production. Itself, the extended version is deceptively long and nicely different.

Of interest, on the B-side Jerry Dammer’s guests on keyboards for another quite solemn track from the Nutty Boys. Thoughtful 2-tone.

(Dedicated to all the Dogs from Lancaster, you know who you are!)
