Wang Chung – Dance Hall Days (Remixes) (US Promo 12″)

Couldn’t resist posting this as my last post for the day.

Wang BLOODY Chung! Their only hit and subsequently getting re-released now and again to promote……..Drum Roll…….. a “Best Of” Compilation. This was synth-ed and camped up by the Rapino Brothers (Charlie Mallozi & Marco Sabiu) on the main mixes. Darren Costin’s (original band member) remix all goes space techno with a huge break beat backing, akin to Born Slippy in places!! Richie Warburton’s mix uses lots of breaks, scratches and techno sounds, the vocals taking a backseat. Finishing off there is an older Shep Pettibone remix of previous single from 1986, your more traditional 80’s 12″ Mix.

NOW BACK TO THE EIGHTIES!!!

  1. “To Live & Die In LA” was a pretty good cut by them. It still sonically dates itself to “Miami Vice” era 1980’s but a good cut nonetheless

  2. “Their only hit”? “THEIR ONLY HIT”? How dare you, Sir? I say How Dare You!

Surely you have had fun on particular nights? Nay, you and the rest of the human race have Wang Chung(ed) on those nights have you not? When you were feeling low, did thou not turn up your radio?

Correct. If you recall you did rip it up, move it down, then you ripped it up again before you moved it down to the ground. You probably even got out what was inside of you. After all, all the world was Babylon.

Hencewith I shall hear no more of this “only hit” nonsense and ponder their greatness whilst standing on the edge of oblivion (they must have been on some Class A stimulants when they wrote that one).
