More Trip Hop and House from 1997 and from Poe (a.k.a. Annie Decatur Danielewski) an Amercian singer/songwriter. Her breakthrough hit here, it appeared in the film “Stir Of Echoes.” Here on 8 (!) different mixes (you may not need all of them in your life) Going through them; “Funk Mix” is definitely in your dreamy Trip Hop style (remixed by E-Smooth), her delivery reminds me of Joni Mitchell or Edie Brickwell or Sheryl Crow or Suzanne Vega or…..
The “Modern Mix” is slightly quicker but is still Trip Hop (remixed by CL McSpadden and Markus Schulz) The “Generator Mixes” brings it up to House speed (remixed by E-Smooth) and seems like she is saying “really gotta been pissing from below” !! (Misheard lyric example 42) The “Edge Factor” (Schulz and McSpadden again) mixes are more , harder house grooves, the Dub mix is almost Tech House with a driving acid bass line and swooping synth strings with the vocals used in the breaks. My favourite is the grungy mix by the man of the moment (for then) Jason Nevins, Trip Hop beats with sampled rock guitar, very dirty and keeping the full vocals. McSpadden and Schulz return with a long, deep house dub remix.
There was a guitar (band) version, sorry not got that one.
