The only thing I’ve got from 1996 is this batch of remixes of the 1988 classic by Tanita Tikarum. As usual released to promote a “Best Of” compilation. It features some quite summery, house mixes with that weary old, deep voice of Tanita sort of works and most keep the oboe in. Phil Kelsey builds and builds the tracks adding more electronic sounds to the song. Ramp (Shem McCauley & Simon Rogers who went on to become Slacker) remix two giving a spacey, Spanish house vibe. The “Extended Bumps and Fluidity Mix” (by Baby Sean and Phat Felix who later became Baby Bumps) is my favourite using the oboe riff as the bass in turns into a chunky, deep house vibe and it works!!!
