Peter Schilling & Bomm-Bastic ‎– Major Tom ’94 (English Version)

1994 (or 22 years ago) and it’s all fun, fun, fun! Peter Schilling re-released his major hit dressing in a VR suit for the promo vid. Classic Euro techno and tongue firmly in cheek he teamed up with Bommbastic (Trance Producers Udo Niebergall and Volker Weber) who had previous releasing an updated version of Nena’s 99 Red Balloons. So it’s all hi-speed Techno, techno, techno with Schillings plaintive vocals about Bowie’s famous Major Tom over the top. It all goes a bit Chris De Burgh “Spaceman came travelling” towards the end. I think I prefer the slower chillout mix, much less frenetic. B-side “Moon Travelling” basically is the track they used for Major Tom, an instrumental, pretty naff synth, elevator muzak. (Paul Hardcastle, Jan Hammer but from 1994?!)
