Weird stuff follows as I go all electronic and avantgarde. Holger Hiller has been one of the Mute “odd” artists over the years (and they’ve had a few!) Here he presents his Sonic experiments, like Art Of Noise on magic mushrooms. Some percussive, some orchestrated, parts remind me of Fad Gadget. Some are listenable, “Cuts Both Ways” is almost dance able. Spoken word poetess, Leslie Winer (a.k.a. the artist known as @) makes an appearance on the loungecore that is “You.”
Hiller was a member of Paris Schaumberg, a Hamburg Art-Rock trio and started his solo career in the early 80’s, releasing the album, “Oben Im Eck” in 1986 on Mute. Never compromising with his sound, this see’s him use digital samples to create a sinister album.
A must for fans of leftfield music and experimental electronics.
