Jesus Jones – Right Here, Right Now (12″)

So into 1991 with a trembling hand and we find good, old Jesus Jones at the height of their power. This split indie fans, the purists because they used technology (not trendy for indie at the time) and dance music fans for being too indie. This is a perfect 3 min pop song with a good mix of both electronics, guitar and political reference (check out the video). Distinct vocals but a catchy song. I even prefer the techno rockier “Broken Bones”

The B-side contains a rather lame rework of Info Freak called “Info Psycho” sampling the late John Peel. All acid and funky drummer but far too smooth,I prefer the rawer original. The lovely acoustic strum of “Welcome Back Victoria” given a beat-less, ambient electronic backing all very Beatles-esque by DNA and some passionate vocals from Mike Edwards closes this 4 track twelve.
