Fairground Attraction – Find My Love (12″)

Featuring the superb voice of Eddi Reader and the brilliant arrangements of Mark E Nevin, Fairground Attraction had a massive hit with “Perfect” and this was the follow up single. Using traditional instruments and a bossa nova rhythm, producer Kevin Moloney (Comsat Angels, Sinéad O’Connor) helped them build this gentle, but catchy.  Off the album “First of a Million Kisses” At the time  I thought it was pretentious fluff and that it was to be avoided but my ears have matured. With accordian by Kim Burton and mandolin by Anthony Thistlethwaite it screams Summer sun. The jazzy “Watching The Party” has a Soweto style swing to it. B-sides contain a cover and an adaption. Sam Cooke’s “You Send Me” (Crackles apart) Reader nailing the vocal and a Robbie Burns poem set to music, “Ay Fond Kiss,” beautiful!
