Nu Shooz – Point Of No Return (12″)

So we head out into the second half of the 80’s with a track from husband and wife, synth duo, Nu Shooz. (John Smith and Valerie Day from Portland, Oregon and bizarrely sponsored by Adidas- they could see an advertising opportunity!) They had that hit “I Can’t Wait” with that sampled voice that manage to ear- worm everyone. The gimmick is here too. Off the same album as their major hit, “Poolside,” this was produced with unofficial third member, Rick Waritz. Remixes are from Shep Pettibone, the “Dub Mix” being a fine example of the dance stuff that was coming out of America at that time. B-side “Goin’ Thru The Motions” is a quick synth pop track which has the Yanks obsession of a heavy guitar licks amongst all the electronics. (again, sorry about the static on this one!)
