UB40 – The Earth Dies Screaming/ Dream A Lie (12″)

From 1980 and more dub reggae from UB40 (it must be all the hot weather!) “Dream A Lie” is the lighter side, romantic lovers rock, that has a lovely dubby break down in the middle and then goes off on a dub trip. The darker “Earth Dies Screaming” has subtle politic messages throughout, remember it was Thatcher, Inflation and the IRA at the time and in the 12″ version is a classic dub and thank God for vinyl.

  1. djjedredy,

Some UB40, now that’s a different side and always welcomed!! Yes! The heat can be a pain especially over here in California. Expecting a high of 40c+ (Celsius terms 4 ya mate).

Hope the fishing trip went well for you and the rest!! Always a good side to selecting your 12″s when you blog your vinyl!!

I do have a Floy Joy and a Haircut 100 coming for you and your fellow blogger (Since requested).

    1. Sounds good Mike got some more vinyl today and picked up this
https://www.discogs.com/INXS-Bitter-Tears/release/1530053 (I know you like your INXS!) Anyways I think there is a jump at the beginning of the 12″ version of Positive Noise’s “Positive Negative” any chance of a re-rip?

      1. djjedredy,

I know about the jump and it was in the stack of 12ers from Hollywood.
There is some pink spots (Very Small) but at the start it has a minor scratch which I thought would not affect play. I’ll try to work it again, see if any changes occur.

Any suggestions on what would be a good cleaner for vinyl without harming the record, if there is a good one. I currently use Gruv Glide in a spray can (Expensive).

Yes! Great track from INXS and nice combo 12″!! I actually have both US 12″s and are always welcomed!! Maybe I’ll rip you my “Elegantly Wasted” 12″ UK version I have, if you would like somewhere down the road?
