BACK TO THE 80’s (WE’LL BE HERE A WHILE!)
Sticking to what this blog seems noted for and a long stay in the 80’s with some forgotten gems and rare twelves.
From 1983 and unbelievably not on here!! Stephen “Tin Tin” Duffy with the help of Mike Howlett and François Kevorkian hit the synth pop button with this corker. Nearly lead singer of Duran Duran, he went on to do “Kiss Me” and “Icing On The Cake” (both on here) before going into the soft guitar jangle of The Lilac Time. The 12″ starts with a sample of a drill inspector before a huge bass kicks in and the very camp vocals, almost Vince Clarke sounding synths. “Blowing Kisses” is a slower piece of synth pop, reminds me a bit like Scritti Politti with a weird, French teaching soundbite at the start and finish.
“The motor cars are waiting.
At traffic lights creating
Havoc equalled only by my heart
A word of love will make your moist lips part”
