The Stranglers – Midnight Summer Dream (12″)

So for most of this week everything will be, comfortably, pre-1985 and generally from Bands you will of heard of, but in the 12″ form.

So from  1983 and my favourite Stranglers track in the 10 min + 12″ version. Mostly spoken word about a drug fueled dream it is when Cornwell breaks out into the song it does the old shiver’s down the spine moment. Hypnotic and cool, this was off the album “Feline.” The B-side has the amazing, full title of “The Strange Circumstances Which Lead To) Vladimir & Olga (Requesting Rehabilitation In A Siberian Health Resort As A Result Of Stress In Furthering The People’s Policies)” (I’ve just kept it to “Vladimir & Olga”) and was not published as by The Stranglers but by The Upper Volga Corngrowers Co-operative Association Choral Dance Troop Ensemble! Basically a synth polka with Cornwall reciting a tall tale over the top.
