Marc Almond – Stained (Vinyl E.P.)

So the much ignored Marc Almond next, showing great variety and song craft. From 1986 and teaming up with long term Soft Cell producer, Mike Hedges. Uncredited on this release were his backing band , The Willing Sinners, with Martin McCarrick (later to be in the band Therapy?) getting a co-writing credit for the exotic , “Jackal , Jackal.” The  5 track E.P. starts with the 60’s influenced “Ruby Red.” Pete Thoms joins on trombone for the wacky, “Anarcoma.” Closing the first side is the light hearted, piano led, “I’m Sick Of You Tasting Of Somebody Else.” My personal favourite is the Celtic influenced, “Broken Hearted And Beautiful,” love the strings!
