The Alarm ‎– Sold Me Down The River (12″)

From 1989 and Welsh band, The Alarm had fully metamorphosed into American Rockers. Many fans from the States even thought they were from Ireland! All the rock riff cliches are here (Get It On, Bang A Gong!), The Cult did a similar thing on “Electric”. Huge synthy bass-line surprisingly! This was off the album “Change” that was not as successful as the band and label had hoped. This is the full version with meaty production by Tony Visconti, it has a Welsh sung version on the B-side, I wonder what their early fans thought of it all ? The B-side is quite acoustic with some biting lyrics and sweeping organ but sung in a cheery way, a weird juxtapose !
